So, it’s been a few days…

So, it’s been a few days since the crying incident. Searching the internet for info was really frustrating and not helpful at all. Do you know how many tutorials there are on beating the Angry Birds game, or how to cheat and use your phone during your airplane flight? Lots! I didn’t need or want that information. I need basic operating instructions, and the operating manual book that comes with my phone expects a greater level of experience with smart phone technology that I have, so it wasn’t much help either.
Then my husband, (a very smart and understanding guy) looked on the manufacturers’ website and found several tutorials that were perfect, so check there first. Some important caveats, it’s really important to know what specific type of phone you have as well as its operating system. Example: I have an Android Razr, with the ICS (which stands for Ice Cream) operating system. Once you know this you can get the right information for your phone.
So I’ve added several contacts to my list, assigned a different ringtone to each member of my family (not necessary, but fun), learned the basics of sending and receiving texts, and have connected the phone to my Facebook account. Loud applause is appreciated.
It’s going to be a while before I really feel comfortable with this phone and its technology, but I don’t see it frustrating me to the point of tears again.
My phone made me cry today

My phone made me cry today. As an opening line it’s not in the same league as “It was a dark and stormy night” or “Now is the hour of our discontent, made glorious summer by this son of York” However, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. My task was simple; just add an additional contact to my new Android phone, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. This may seem funny to many of you, but to me, tired and frustrated by a morning spent learning how to conquer social media, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. So I sat down and cried at my kitchen table.
Pause. Several deep breaths.
Screw the phone. I needed a break.
I walked down to my sewing machine to shorten a new top that I got. Sewing is good. Sewing is something that I’m good at, and the machine does exactly what I want it to do. My pity party lasted as long as it took to finish the shirt, when I realized that I could find this information for myself somewhere on the web. Not only that, I realized that I’m going to learn everything I need to know, and then some. I will master the Android.
So this blog is for all women like me, intelligent, but somewhat behind the curve when it comes to technology. This is also for other female artists and entrepreneurs who are trying to carve out a place for themselves in the world-wide marketplace. I hope to pass on what works for me and my business, and possibly help out a few others in the process.
Now, back to the phone.
